January 2001 During Sunday School 1/07/01 The following were nominated to be: Elders: George Payne Deacons: Colleen Higgins Trustees: Juanita Jo Matkins Nominations will be presented to the congregation on the 3rd Sunday for voting and confirmation. Board meeting is to be held on the fourth Sunday in January. Board meeting was moved to 4th Sunday due to absence of several board members on the 2nd Sunday. |

January 28, 2001 1st Quarter Board Meeting George Payne Juanita Jo Matkins Betty Smith Mary Kranz Larry Thomas Don Short [Jeanne Wolf] [Dee Keffer] Minutes read and approved Jeanne W reported that the web-site is up, connected to Louisa County church list on Louisa County web-site. Hymn study continues, led by George Payne, on 3rd Sunday during Sunday School. Pastoral search continues - George Payne reported Bill Blake reluctant to commit. Bill will do Homecoming 2001. Elaine Scott resigned September 1998. The elders will pursue the prospect of Blake as pastor and we'll discuss the results at the next board meeting. Don Short, Larry Thomas, Juanita Jo Matkins to serve as committee to consider insurance upgrade. (Payne moved, J Wolf seconded, motion carried). George Payne approached by LifeLine Medical to do ultrasound/Doppler tests at Yanceyville. Moved and seconded to ask Josie Kinkade about the usefulness of this. Betty Smith nominated to Scholarship Trust Fund to replace Juanita Jo Matkins, whose term ends this month. Betty to serve for 3 years. George Payne's term up 2002, Jan., William Hale's term up 2003 January. Don Short will ask attorney Jim Lillie to enter names of new trustees as part of record on transaction of Nellie Smith property to Harrises and Don will also pursue conveyance of property across the road to George Payne. Jeanne Wolf and Dee Keffer exressed desire to revamp back rooms for better use for congregational gatherings and for Sunday School. Moved and seconded and approved, Dee and Jeanne authorized as "3 back rooms" committee to spend up to $300 on supplies and materials for Sunday School rooms and Sunday School for youths. Meeting adjourned. |

April 8, 2001 2nd Quarter 2001 Board Meeting Jim Wolf George Payne Don Short Larry Thomas Connie Spencer Doug Spencer Betty Smith Corrections to the minutes: Jim Wolf announced new Yanceyville web-site not published, just created. Minutes approved as amended. Betty Smith moved, George Payne seconded Old Business: George Payne reported the LifeLine group found another site. Dee Keffer reported the seams between the sheetrock are in need of taping if we're to paint the back rooms. Discussion followed about various options. Three Room Committee reported and were directed to develop a plan for the renovation of the rooms. Jim Wolf reportd on web-site - asked for typists so the minutes can be typed and indexed. Pastoral Search Update - At this point Bill Blake doesn't appear to be a possibility. Jim Wolf expressed the sentiments of many on the board of appreciation to George Payne for his efforts in recruiting supply pastors and continuing effort to find a full-time pastor. New Business: Work Day / Clean-up Day for Yanceyville set for June 2. Insurance discussion - The insurance committee was directed to review our coverage, enter into a contract with a new insurer and cancel old policy. Amounts should be approximately $250,000 on building, $175,000 on organ and at least $1 million liability. Don Short moved that the church give its interest in Nellie Jean Smith property to Danny Harris and Patti Harris at no cost. The interest is that interest acquired under the will of Irene Carpenter and any interest the church may have in that property. Betty seconded, motion approved. Betty Smith announced that Lee Smith and Sammy Smith will be doing the yard work this spring, summer and fall. Meeting adjourned. |
